CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
Our organization is in the midst of strategic planning, transition, and growth. Thus, our board of directors is in transition as well. We have added three board members in the past fiscal year and aim to and two to three more in the next fiscal year. We will also be developing an advisory board as well as a youth advisory board. Inclusion is very important to us. At abrasiveMedia, inclusion means taking as much time as is needed to build creative relationships so that an individual may present their vision and goals from the perspectives of their identity, but they get to do so knowing that they are already welcome and honored, and they do not need to prove their worth to us through their art. Many individuals on the board and in the staff have experienced tokenism and we are working to do our best to build a community which rejects dehumanizing practices. |
