Description
This program is a street-level engagement program, started in late 2019, that goes into encampments and areas where people experiencing homelessness live; that aren't meant for human habitation. Case managers build relationships and assist with getting the needed documents and information to move residents into permanent housing solutions, or gap housing, followed by permanent housing solutions based on availability. Clients then have continued engagement through Housing Navigators and Retention Coaches who are assigned to finalize housing being secured and to ensure the stability and long-term success of our clients.

The Salvation Army Quality of Life Supportive housing offers housing to families, single women and men. We have 13 family units, 16 women units and 18 units for men. The average length of stay is 4-6 months, with continued case management up to a year once a new home is found. During their stay with us, residents will meet with case managers and complete a 'Quality of Life' assessment, allowing them to lay out their top 3 priorities and put together a plan of action to achieve those priorities. Our residents are always meant to be moving forward be that employment, schooling, or volunteering as they work through their action plan. Upon fully completing this program, we invite them into one of our complimentary programs to continue their journey. We currently have an 86% success rate of residents remaining in housing past the 1 year mark.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

We regularly review the effectiveness and relevance of all our programs. The Needs Assessment and Planning Study recently completed by an independent firm concluded that The Salvation Army is addressing 4 of the 5 top ranked needs in Nashville as highlighted by United Way's most recent Community Needs Assessment. Our strategic plan addresses the enhancement of these programs and potential new programs as the needs of a growing Nashville will demand.
