CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Financing the exchanges can take a lot of our resources. With regards to educational exchanges, there are many deserving students who would like to participate in our international exchanges but can not afford the high cost of airfare. We host an annual fundraiser that helps provide funding for these deserving students, especially minority students. Additionally we try to identify individuals and organizations who may be able to donate frequent flyer points or credit card rewards points that can be used for international travel scholarships. We hope to develop a corporate program that calls for named scholarship funds to support deserving students in need of financial aid. We have worked with the mayor's office to develop a group of Nashville Cultural Partners. These entities waive entrance fees for our visiting students from our sister cities to welcome them and help us show off all that Nashville has to offer. Because our student exchanges are such an important aspect of our mission, we established a Youth Advisory Board, comprising Nashville-area students who have either hosted visiting students or traveled on a SCN international exchange. The Youth Board's objective is to advise the Student Exchange Committee and current Board of Directors on creating and implementing excellent student exchanges.
