CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
Our greatest challenge at the Global Education Center involves a lack of general operating funds, primarily for the costs of maintaining and repairing our facility. Both of our buildings are over 125 years old (one of them on the Historic Register) and are in constant need of repair and maintenance. Because we primarily serve children, youth and families of lower economic means, we cannot rely on earned income to cover the expenses of our quaint old buildings. We would love to find folks who could steer us toward funding sources that could help us preserve our beautiful but quirky buildings that have been a comforting home and safe haven for hundreds of families over the last twenty-five years. We have also become a partner in the nonprofit collaboration at Casa Azafran Community Center, enabling us to open a satellite studio in the southeast part of Nashville closer to where many of our immigrant and refugee families dwell; however, we lack the funding to cover the high rental cost of becoming a productive part of this one-stop service center. We would of course welcome corporate sponsorship to help make this possible. |
