Mission
As an animal rescue organization, we strive to feed the hungry, care for the suffering, provide shelter for the homeless, help those who can't help themselves, and educate those around us to do the same. FLUFF is a foster-based animal rescue organization located in the Nashville, TN, and surrounding areas. We primarily rescue orphaned kittens that are too young and need too much care to be in shelters or on the streets as well as kittens and cats in need of medical attention that shelters or other rescues are unable to provide. We are not entirely a breed-specific rescue but we do focus our adult cat efforts on helping the very large in need Persian/Himilayan/Exotic Shorthair population. Our philosophy is if we can help we will.
Background
The founders of FLUFF have been in rescue together since May 2010 working with other rescue groups and shelters. They decided it was time to start a rescue of their own and FLUFF was established in Feb 2014. Since then, FLUFF has rescued over 2,000 cat/kittens and the occasional dog.
Impact
FLUFF rescues approximately 200 cats/kittens each year. Our goal is to continue at this pace so that we maintain the wherewithal to be able to help the youngest and most medically needy cat/kittens that we can.
Needs
Our greatest and essentially only expense is medical care. We are fortunate to work with veterinary clinics that offer discounted rates to rescues, but our expenses are still significantly more than we would ever be able to charge as an adoption fee. We often take on cats/kittens with significant medical needs or who are so young and orphaned that they require longer in foster and more medical care to survive.
