The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) partners with USDA to provide non-perishable food items to eligible households through quarterly commodity food distributions.

Description
The focus of the Weatherization Assistance Program is to improve the energy efficiency of low-income homes using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry. The energy conservation resulting from weatherization through the efforts of state and local agencies helps America to reduce its dependence on foreign oil. Low-income families experience lower home energy costs and improved health and safety conditions of their homes, which results in increased household self-sufficiency as the money ordinarily spent on home energy costs can be funneled to meet another need.

MCCAA's caring Head Start staff all have degrees, certifications, or long term experience related to child development and are involved in ongoing training including 80 clock hours of child development training each year. All Head Start Centers centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and all sites are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Human Services. All of our centers have the highest rating issued by the state regulatory agency of 3-STAR indicating the best quality. We are active members of the Regional and the Tennessee Head Start Association. MCCAA Head Start offers research-based and age-appropriate curricula and learning activities for children ages six weeks to five years. Our programs focus on age-appropriate play and individualized learning opportunities. All children are involved in our educational and fun activities including music, art, storytelling, and recreation.

CSBG funding provides a variety of programs and services including emergency assistance with rent/mortgage and essential utilities for those who have experienced a crisis. Special funding is also set aside for specific programs such as:
• Nutrition services; including USDA Commodity Distributions, nutrition education, and food pantries
• Case management, which provides support for families able to work and aids them in becoming more self-sufficient
• The Elderly, Disabled, and Veterans Services program, which provides support to promote independent living for these specific populations and aids them in maintaining their current living situations
• Linkages, which provides "links" or referrals to available community resources needed to help ensure continuum of care
Other community-wide initiatives are also funded by CSBG, including homelessness services rendered as part of a collective impact consortium in Wilson County.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded grant program that provides assistance to low-income households that spend a disproportionate amount of income on home energy costs. LIHEAP offers two components of service through which assistance can be received:
• Regular LIHEAP- provides one time per program year financial assistance with home energy bills for households that meet income and residency requirements
