Long-term Success
The long-term impact goal for the participants is that they understand the value and importance of having a creative outlet at every point in a lifetime. During the festival, the participants engage with each other and members of MNC ranging in age from 20 to 80. It is our hope that when these students are facing challenges later in their lives, they will remember the friendship and comfort found in a group activity like singing.
Long-term success for YWISH will require multiple schools (middle school, high school, and college) aware of and engaged in the program so that even as students and teacher change, the program is still part of their annual plan. Prior to COVID, we had some participants and teachers who had come to 3-8 annual events and encourages others. Their commitment and advocacy for the festival was integral to our growth. We lost moment in 2020 and 2021, and are working now to regain it and find new supports and partners.
Short-term Success
Short-term success is a positive, joyful, and harmonious participant experience at the Festival. Additionally, when teachers bring a group to the event, they can extend the experience by working with their singers as they learn the songs (music and learning media is provided 30 days before), as well as including warm-ups and other techniques the observe at YWISH. Our clinicians also meet with the educators who attend to discuss how bringing barbershop to the classroom can benefit their students.
Program Success Monitored By
We use number of participants, number of schools, and number of repeat attendees as key metrics. On a qualitative level, we also ask participants to complete a feedback survey and provide recommendation/testimonial quotes, if desired.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
Our greatest challenge is to reach women who are not aware of the wonderful opportunities for growth, education and performance our organization offers. Women who have an outlet for their creativity and strong relationships outside of work and home are healthier and happier. |
