Description
In 2020, Teach For America set an ambitious goal to serve as our north star: by 2030, twice as many students in the
communities where we work will meet key educational milestones that indicate they are on a path to economic
mobility and lives full of possibility. Ignite leverages research-based practices for high-impact tutoring and brings
exceptional, equity-oriented leaders into classrooms, virtually, to immediately add value for students and schools through
customized learning. Ignite is anchored in the key educational milestones of our 2030 goal and focuses on improving student
outcomes in two key indicators of long-term student success: K-3rd reading and 5th-8th math. Under the guidance a veteran educator at each partner school, Ignite fellows customize tutoring lessons to help students build academic skills and confidence. Each semester, they work with 2-4 students virtually during the students' school day, 3-5 days a week using a school-aligned curriculum.
Short-term Success
In the 2024-25 school year, TFA will recruit over 290 tutors who will work across 13 schools to move the needle on math and reading proficiency.

Description
We recruit outstanding and diverse leaders early in their careers and ask them to make a commitment that begins with two years of teaching in a public school in the region, partnering with children and families most impacted by educational inequity. We seek people who have the values and experiences necessary to expand opportunity and access for children. Among the leadership traits we look for is a deep belief in the potential in every child, a strong record of achievement, and perseverance in the face of challenges. We develop teachers who go beyond traditional expectations to advance students' academic and personal growth while helping to strengthen schools. In partnership with schools, Lipscomb University, Relay Graduate School of Education, other organizations, and businesses in Nashville and Chattanooga, we provide corps members with initial training, ongoing
professional development, and access to an unparalleled resource and support network.
Long-term Success
Since 2009, more than 1,200 extraordinary leaders have joined TFA in Nashville and Chattanooga. Today, 29% of corps members identify as people of color, and 47% come from a low-income background.
Short-term Success
In 2024-25, TFA will support 120 corps members who will reach an estimated 10,000 students in nearly 40 schools across Nashville and Chattanooga.
