Program Successes
I thoroughly enjoyed participating in this morning's Tennessee Talk. I really appreciated Carole's intro and slides. Thank you for inviting me to speak. If you need a speaker in the future, I will be happy to share the story of Joe Hanover and the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment. Best, Bill

Tennessee 101 is an online lecture series exploring Tennessee's rich and varied history.
Program Successes
TN 101 has been met with enthusiasm. One attendee from Maryland wrote, "Please extend my thanks to Dr. Bucy for both the series of lectures she offered this spring. They've been fascinating to hear. What I have learned during this pandemic has made it an experience like no other since my college days. Webinars offered for free or very reasonable sums have made what seemed like endless days go by more rapidly than I thought possible. As a student of Civil War history, I learned so much about Tennessee's role. The information about both the African Americans' experiences and the women's experiences was a real treat."

THS publications promote interest in all matters related to Tennessee history. They cover all time periods, sections of the state, and genres of history. We provide more information on African-American and women's history than any Tennessee publisher. The Tennessee Historical Quarterly enters its 75th year in 2016. We maintain The Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture, published as a 1200 page book in 1998 and transformed into free website in 2002. We also produce books such as Trial and Triumph: Tennessee's African American History (2002), and A History of the Tennessee Arts (2004). The 10-volume series Tennessee in the Civil War appeared in 2010-2016. The goal of publications is to reach as many people interested in Tennessee as possible. The THQ circulation includes 350 schools, colleges, and libraries. 2500 Tennessee public schools and libraries received free copies of The Tennessee Encyclopedia. The TE website is a free reference site at http://tennesseeencyclopedia.net.

The Museum and Archives Collections program dates to 1817 and is at the core of the THS mission to promote an interest in and preservation of all matters relating to Tennessee history. Artifacts range from objects from prehistoric cultures to lunch room stools from Civil Rights sit-ins. Manuscript materials include first-hand accounts of Tennessee's settlements to oral histories with World War II veterans. Since 1927, the THS has partnered with the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the Tennessee State Museum under a trust agreement in order to make our collections available to the public. In 2016, the THS continues to receive donations to its collections. We sponsor an annual national competition for a scholarly research fellowship in our collections at the TSLA. We are also actively engaged in planning for a new state museum (funded) and new state archives (planned) that will showcase our artifacts.
