E-mentoring connects high school students and working professionals through the creation of professionally-supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships focused on college and career readiness. Through their relationships with their mentors, Littles develop workplace skills, solidify post-high school plans, and gain access to career-advancing opportunities and networks.

Curriculum-led mentor/youth communication is facilitated through a secure online platform with three face-to-face meetings throughout the year. E-mentoring began in Middle Tennessee in 2017 at Antioch High School, and is a great option for prospective volunteers who routinely travel for work or have staggered schedules of availability. The program has expanded to Dickson High School and Creek Wood High School in Dickson County, and recently expanded to LEAD Academy in Davidson County.

The College Advancement Program (CAP) is a college and career readiness initiative designed to equip college students for post-secondary success through mentoring and access to key opportunities. In 2023, BBBSMT began a unique partnership with Tennessee State University (TSU) to pilot CAP as part of the Big Futures initiative. Through personalized one-to-one mentoring and dynamic group mentoring (EmpowerU), the CAP strives to address challenges related to emerging independence, academic and financial success, and student mental health. As staff continued to build the one-to-one mentorship components of the CAP, group mentoring opportunities were initiated via EmpowerU events. BBBSMT staff are committed to ensuring that this program is a representation of the expressed needs of students, delivered in a way that reflects their priorities and lifestyles, and providing the opportunity to share direct input, feedback, and suggestions.

Big Cousins is a youth-led, nontraditional mentoring initiative that offers shared-interest programming for young people. Littles requesting mentorship are provided with a "Cousin" until a full-time Big Brother/Sister is found. Big Cousins will ensure that Littles who enroll in our program will have the opportunity to be connected to mentors and programming immediately, no longer needing to wait before experiencing BBBS mentoring's benefits. Instead, upon enrollment they will be offered the opportunity to join a "Little Cousins" team of their choice. Each team of Little Cousins is led by an assigned "Big Cousin" who will share a common interest with their team of Little Cousins. Little Cousins will benefit from weekly one-to-one virtual mentoring, innovative activities, bi-monthly team-building exercises, outings, and ongoing support from the entire Big Cousins family. Big Cousins will continue to engage with each Little Cousin until they are matched with a compatible mentor.

Caring volunteer adult role models make a commitment to spend 6-8+ hours each month for a minimum of one year in a one-to-one mentoring relationship with a child who can benefit from a mentor. The match is expected to spend consistent time together in the community, sharing activities such as library or museum visits, ball games, community service, sharing a meal and other everyday activities. The child and the volunteer determine their activities with guidance from the professional staff and taking into consideration the goals set by the parent, child and mentor. Community-Based Mentoring serves youth in Nashville/Davidson County, TN, and the contiguous counties of Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson, Sumner, Robertson, Cheatham and Dickson.
