Rhonda's Experience: Dr. Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi was born in Treherne, Manitoba, Canada and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 1991. She completed a post-graduate residency program at the VA Medical Center, Louisville, KY. Since then, Dr. Switzer-Nadasdi has spent her entire dental career overseeing dental programs for the poor. She served as the head of dentistry at a fly-in health center in the sub-arctic location of Churchill, Manitoba (the Polar Bear Capitol of the World) from 1992-94. She also worked as a staff dentist for the Department of Health in Hamilton, Bermuda in 1994-95 where she treated children of low-income families, people with mental disabilities and people in nursing homes and prisons. Dr. Switzer-Nadasdi became the first employee of the Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee in 1995 and has served as leadership since. During her tenure, the clinic has grown from a two-chair operation located in a church basement to a 2-clinic, 26-chair facility with a staff of nearly 60, caring for more than 3,000+ patients annually. She was recently inducted into the International College of Dentists, an honor reserved for 3% of dentists worldwide. Dr. Switzer-Nadasdi is a Past President for the Nashville Dental Society. She chairs the Council on oral health initiatives of the Tennessee Dental Association, founded and chairs the Middle Tennessee Oral Health Coalition, and now has a seat on the Council on Access and Interprofessional Relations of the American Dental Association.

The patients that we care for have advanced oral disease processes that have often gone on for years. The care is expensive to provide and requires advanced skills by the dental team. Only the most skilled, qualified and compassionate providers are hired or approved as volunteers. We set our goals in all areas of clinical care and safety above the standard. As stewards of community gifts, the clinical team and the patient work together to eradicate and prevent future disease. Each patient is cared for individually, with respect, dignity and love. Interfaith Dental is the perfect balance of clinical excellence and compassion.
