Mission

The Columbia State Community College Foundation's mission is to support and partner with Columbia State to positively impact our communities and student success through the maintenance and enhancement of resources. This is achieved by excellence in relationship building, fundraising and investment management.

Background

In 1967 Columbia State Community College opened its doors as Tennessee's first community college. To help meet student scholarship and financial needs, the Columbia State Community College Foundation was formed in 1971 as an institutionally related, yet independently chartered 501(c)(3). Its purposes, as specified in the charter, are "to receive, hold, care for, invest, use and distribute income for the promotion of educational activities at Columbia State." The Foundation has provided millions of dollars in additional funds for scholarships and special needs at Columbia State. Trustees are leaders in Columbia State's service area who contribute their time, experience, funds and wisdom in selfless service to the college and community. The CSCCF's vision is to lead in attitudes and actions that enhance academic excellence, student success and prosperity within the Columbia State 9-county service area through vibrant individual, public and private partnerships. Over the years, the Foundation's support of the College has expanded to include fundraising for special projects and capital development, grant writing and extended campus facility support. The CSCCF partners with the college and community sponsors to present ongoing visual and performing arts opportunities.

Impact

During 2021-2022 academic year, the Columbia State Community College Foundation awarded 216 scholarships totaling almost $138,000. During 2021-22, the Foundation hosted a full season of professional musical performances in the Columbia State Cherry Theater for the 20th season. In addition it provided a curator for regional Pryor Art Gallery located on Columbia campus and sought foundation grants to assist with college initiatives and projects; and continued maintenance of its donor/fundraising database management system.

CEO Statement
