Mission

JMI exists to Make Justice Personal for the poor, orphaned and forgotten people of the world. Psalm 82:3-4 (HCSB) Today, these precious ones are facing overwhelming and unprecedented dangers: human traffickers; diseases; substandard education; poverty; environmental dangers; and a lack of spiritual guidance. But there is hope. By God's amazing grace, JMI is making a difference. Regardless of the country we are serving, our plan is to offer hope and help to the most vulnerable. Through our volunteer mission trips we wrap our arms around defenseless children and extend a hand of friendship to the poor and the marginalized. Through our sponsorship programs we invest in the long-term well-being of a child and by providing essential programs and services we rescue them from harm's way. Through every action we demonstrate the love of Jesus. We invite you to join us in our work. Together we can Make Justice Personal.

Background

JMI was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2008. Its mission statement says that JMI exists to make justice personal for the poor, orphaned & forgotten of the world.JMI was founded through the mission work of Rolling Hills Community Church in the Republic of Moldova, dating back to 2003. After incorporation, JMI hired Moldova National Director, Alina Magdaliuc. As Moldova begun closing orphanages. JMI adapted to those changes by setting up community-based ministries to find & minister to children who are living in desperate circumstances. In 2010, JMI established a transitional living program for the most vulnerable children with no viable family. This 3 year program provides residential care, adult supervision, social & psychological services, life skills training, spiritual guidance, English & computer classes, tutoring & higher education opportunities, vocational prep & a volunteer project. A non-residential TL program provides all the above benefits to young people who have a place to live. In 2015, JMI implemented an independent living program for its TL graduates. In 2009, God opened a door for JMI to work in the Amazon region of Brazil. A friendship was established with John Paculabo, the founder of Kingsway Music Group in the U.K. John 'Pac' had established 14 schools in the Amazon, constructed a large community center in the jungle & purchased a large hammock boat to transport mission teams throughout the Amazon. In winter of 2012, John was diagnosed with cancer. In a January 2013 meeting at his home, John handed over all the assets he had accumulated in Brazil to a new Brazilian NGO JMI would form known as Justice & Mercy Amazon. The following day, God called John home. In 2013, JMI hired our National Director for Brazil, Sarah Rodrigues. Today, JMI conducts annual jungle pastors' conferences at our John Pac Centre on the Rio Negro. They provide training & fellowship opportunities to pastors who serve in remote locations along the Amazon. JMA also ministers to villages through VBS, medical teams, building schools, providing emergency food relief & sponsorships special needs children. In 2015, JMI introduced a sponsorship program for children in 2 villages & continues to expand. Since 2007, JMI has conducted mission trips to Red Hill, South Africa, and partnered with Living Hope NGO to provide a daily meal, activities & Bible studies for up to 100 children & students. In 2016, JMI will begin a sponsorship program there as well.

CEO Statement

Justice & Mercy International exists to mobilize the Church to reach the poor, the orphaned and the forgotten people of the world. Our programs are tailored to address the specific needs of the different areas where we work. In Moldova we primarily try to prevent human trafficking of vulnerable children in orphanage and impoverished rural villages. In the Amazon we are trying to equip and encourage the pastors of local churches, build schools and care for children with special needs.

Board Chair Statement

As the President of Justice & Mercy International, I feel confident in the governance of our excellent board of directors, executive staff, and international staff and have no concerns at present. My biggest challenge is to help make sure we are well resourced for the future as our ministry expands and grows. This is an exciting time here at JMI. We are truly seeing lives literally being saved - physically and spiritually - around the world. We are working with the poor, the orphaned and the forgotten in some of the most impoverished places in the world. From countries like Moldova, to vast region of the Amazon in Brazil and even into one of the most hurting places in South Africa, we are seeing hope and life springing forth. Through the work of JMI, children and adults are discovering a hope and a future. We have a front row seat for life-change, and we are grateful. But, there is so much still to do. While there are non-profits and NGOs that are working to help children after they have been trafficked, JMI is working to prevent and protect children from ever having to endure this atrocity. Instead of being reactive, JMI is working to be proactive. And, we are seeing a huge difference being made. At Justice and Mercy International, we have a dedicated US & International Staff Team, under the leadership of Mary Katharine Hunt, our Executive Director, that is working to make justice personal for the poor, the orphaned and the forgotten people of the world. We are seeing life-change happening, but we still have so much more to do. We hope you will join with us in making a difference in our world today. Together, we can make justice personal to a world in desperate need.
