John's Experience: Dichtl has been President & CEO of the AASLH since May 2015. Prior to that he was Executive Director of the National Council on Public History, in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 2006 to 2015. Before that he was Deputy Executive Director at the Organization of American Historians (OAH), in Bloomington, Indiana, which is the largest professional and scholarly organization for practitioners of U.S. history. Dichtl was also Interim Executive Director at OAH and worked there from 1991 to 2005. He has also been president of the National Coalition for History, currently serves on its Policy Board, and currently is on the Executive Committee of the History Relevance Campaign. He has a PhD (2000) and MA (1995) from Indiana University in early American history. |
