Rebuilding Together Nashville
Programs
Budget
$600,000.00
Description
Rebuilding Together Nashville has been working in long-term disaster recovery since the 2010 Nashville floods-standing by homeowners in need of repairs for the years long-term recovery takes. Oftentimes, disasters hardest hit those who are least able to afford it and lead to long time residents being pushed out of their neighborhoods. We believe that preserving affordable housing in disaster affected neighborhoods begins with repairing homes. Rebuilding Together Nashville is an active member of the Nashville Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD). This allows us to partner with a variety of community organizations that can provide holistic, wrap around services to homeowners needing repairs.
Rebuilding Together offers disaster related home repairs at no cost to homeowners after a natural disaster. Rebuilding Together is currently responding to the tornado that struck Madison in December 2023.
Beneficiaries
General Public
Economically disadvantaged people
Program Areas Served

Description
Through our core program, the Safe and Healthy Home Improvement Program (SHHIP), we address critical health and safety hazards present in the homes of low-income older adults, Veterans, and those living with disabilities. We work in partnership with local construction professionals, volunteers, businesses, local government agencies and other community partners. Our focus is on improvements that will make homes safer and healthier for all residents.
Rebuilding Together is currently working in the Greater Bordeaux community and the Dickerson Pike Corridor community.
RTN's Targeted Community initiatives are a multi-year, place-based initiatives to preserve affordable homeownership, prevent resident displacement, and revitalize community spaces . These initiatives concentrate our home repair and community revitalization work in a single, high-need community in the path of gentrification. We are currently able to serve homes that are within our targeted community boundaries.
Beneficiaries
Older Adults
People with physical disabilities
Veterans
Long-term Success
Starting in 2019, we adopted a targeted community approach where a selection committee completed a quantitative and qualitative analysis of Nashville neighborhoods to strategically understand the areas that could most benefit from our services. Bordeaux was our first neighborhood we began working on, which has seen nearly 72 homes and 4 community spaces repaired. This has meant a nearly $1.9 million dollar investment in the community. Additionally, through our community partnerships we have been able to address the gaps in resources identified by our homeowners through wrap around services. In 2023, we replicated this same process and launched our new targeted community of Dickerson Pike after recognizing the changes that will be happening to the corridor with the East Bank development. To date, we have repaired nearly 15 homes and 1 community space.
