Carol's Experience: Carol is a nationally recognized leader in the disability community and a lifelong advocate for disadvantaged people. She is the founding executive director of the Tennessee Disability Coalition Her background and training are in disability, and public policy. She has been a special education teacher and supervisor, as well as serving as leadership staff in other nonprofit advocacy organizations. Carol regularly serves on state boards and commissions that affect people with disabilities including the DMHDD Policy and Planning Council, the Election Commission's HAVA Planning Committee, TennCare Steering Committee, Title 33 Law Revision Commission, Long Term Care Advisory Council, and the Community-based Services Planning Commission. She has helped to establish a number of disability advocacy programs and agencies in Tennessee. With a passion for serving the community and empowering people with disabilities, she is an active volunteer who serves on a number of nonprofit boards. |
