Background
Trevecca Nazarene University is a fully accredited comprehensive institution of higher education located in Nashville, Tennessee. Trevecca offers 20 associate degrees, 81 undergraduate majors, 25 master's programs and three doctoral programs as well as specialist and certificate programs. While Trevecca reaffirms its primary goal of educating recent high school graduates, it has also recognized and assumed responsibility for providing innovative undergraduate and graduate programs for adults. Trevecca's distinctiveness is that of being a holiness institution of higher education which presents a Christian interpretation of truth. While the nature of the University has changed some over the years, its mission to provide quality Christ-centered education, with an emphasis on the integration of faith and learning, has been maintained. The name "university" is especially appropriate for any institution that clearly focuses on this mission. There are several elements that are key to Trevecca's character: First, teaching is the University's primary responsibility. While some faculty are increasingly engaged in research, writing, and service projects, their greatest task is to teach. Second, the focus is on a strong liberal arts preparation and a viable general education program. Today, most graduate schools and employers are calling for a more general and liberally educated graduate. Trevecca is well-suited for such requests because it has historically included the liberal arts as part of its mission. Third, the main concern is in helping the individual student. Trevecca is a Christian community. Fourth, spiritual life development remains at the core of its focus. Chapel attendance, required religion courses, revivals, and the spiritual commitment of the faculty and student body are a vital part of University life.
Impact
Trevecca Nazarene University, a Christian community providing education for leadership and service, provides undergraduate and graduate higher education needs for the Middle-Tennessee area, southeast region of the United States, and beyond. In the fall of 2022, University enrollment reached 3,327students with the traditional undergraduate student body of 1,478. The University's offers a PhD in clinical counseling , a DBA in business administration, EdD in leadership and an EdS in turnaround school program. Online and hybrid options have been developed for undergraduate and master's degrees in information technology, business, and leadership. Current projects planned with capital needs include a new athletic complex and gymnasium. Also endowing the operations of the J. V. Morsch Center for Social Justice is a priority. The goal for the Center is to offer an interdisciplinary approach to empower service-minded students with the skills and experiences needed to become leaders in serving human need.
Needs
The current top 5 most pressing funding needs for Trevecca are the following: 1) Scholarships both current and endowed, $50 million; 2) Construction of athletic complex to house athletic and intramural programs,$40 million; 3) Facilities, equipment and scholarship support for the new nursing program $10 million 4) Center for Social Justice Endowment $5 million 5) Academic chairs for each school within the University, $5 million.

The genius of his work was the marriage of a passion to serve and the practical expertise to make a difference. His legacy is a school founded to shape Godly servants. We are a Christian community providing high quality education for leadership and service. In a world of human need, we must stay focused on our mission. We believe God has given us the capacity for great service through honing our skills to the highest level of expertise. Trevecca strives to be known for the Christ-like character and practical expertise of its graduates as they make the city of Nashville and the world more just, more peaceful, and more neighborly. Those who have gone before us insist that we not let McClurkan's dream die. And we will not.
