Mission

To connect individuals and families in Rutherford County with access, opportunities and supportive services for housing, healthcare, and economic self-sufficiency through collaboration, partnership and advocacy.

Background

In 1996 Mayor Joe B. Jackson of Murfreesboro contacted several agencies who worked with the homeless population regarding issues the community was experiencing. This early step began the work of coordination and collaboration between agencies working together to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Since that time, the organization of this work has continually grown into the Continuum of Care, Board of Directors, and H3ARC now serving as the lead agency to provide operational staff for this work.

Impact

This model of coordination and collaboration between agencies across the community in a Continuum of Care is a best practice for communities across the county, and is required for communities to receive many grants from U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
H3ARC's leadership in this area enables agencies across Rutherford County to apply for over $700,000 annually, to continually improve the use of these funds with data-driven evaluation and support, and provides the opportunities for appropriate coordination and collaboration towards our goal of ending homelessness in Rutherford County.

Needs

Over 80% of H3ARC's total revenue comes from federal and state grants. These grants provide significant funding to support the coordination and collaboration of effort across the County.
These grants also require additional, local contributions from individuals, organizations, and local grant-makers to match federal and state contributions towards this work for our community.

This local support is essential for our continuing work. It also allows H3ARC and other agencies across the community to continue to access federal grant funds and increase the amount of total funding available to support our work towards ending homelessness in Rutherford County.
