"In today's climate for our youth there is limited opportunity for kids to be active and social. For an organization like CSC which provides a platform to achieve both of those things while also helping the kids reach a high level of competitive competition - I'm proud to be a part of it. Clarksville Soccer Club has demonstrated a commitment to helping these kids understand their individual impact on our community, a larger picture than just the game itself."

Long-term Success
As the first step of the Player Development Pathway, PDP introduces children to the sport of soccer and Clarksville Soccer Club membership. This program gives the Club the unique opportunity to prepare young players for the transition to competitive soccer and grow the number of players in each respective age group. This provides a solid foundation for which the club can build its competitive teams. Young athletes and their families who are introduced to soccer through our PDP program become invested in the club at a young age and are most likely to commit to long-term membership as their child transitions through their competitive years of youth soccer play.
Along the entire Player Development Pathway, CSC aims to not only foster a love for the game of soccer but also enhance individual character and build leadership skills that athletes take with them throughout their lives.
Short-term Success
By the end of each six-week segment, the players will have developed key fundamental soccer and basic team skills within an age-appropriate progression of lesson plans. Individual skills, as well as a basic understanding of the rules and applications of techniques in a game setting, will be the target improvements.
Program Success Monitored By
Clarksville Soccer Club uses three ways of measuring PDP success, all from different perspectives: coaches' feedback, a post-participation survey, and a review of enrollment records through CSC's registration software to identify how many players return to the program.
Evaluations are offered throughout the year for any PDP player U8 or older who has the desire to transition to CSC's U8-U10 Academy Competitive Teams. The Academy Competitive Teams represent the Phase I of the Competitive Player Development Pathway.

"Our daughter started with Clarksville Soccer Club when the club was founded. When we started, I was unaware of everything she would learn as a member of the club. I had no doubt she would learn the technical aspect of soccer and develop a love for the game. However, she has garnered much more than that. While most kids begin developing leadership skills through school-related activities during their middle school and high school years, her time on the pitch has allowed her to begin developing those leadership skills at an earlier age of about 9 years old. I still see those skills being developed 5 years later. Being a part of the club has given her the "playing field" to develop leadership skills that she will be able to carry with her for the rest of her life. For that, I am forever grateful."

Long-term Success
It is CSC's long term vision that players develop into citizens who hold value to their community and actively contribute to help advance their community, and who also desire to continuously grow and learn in the broadest sense. To become a better spouse, parent. Soccer is a vehicle to accomplish this and CSC aspires to foster a life-long love for the game of soccer in all athletes and their families.
CSC holds a strong view that the ultimate success of this program is not defined by outcomes and the number of tournaments won but rather by the extent to which players understand the tactical principles and are able to demonstrate this into the play. It is about learning problem-solving skills and the ability to translate this into everyday life beyond soccer.
Short-term Success
Clarksville Soccer Club's Competitive Program is geared toward players who have outgrown a Recreational Program and are looking for a more challenging soccer environment.
CSC's competitive teams are divided into 3 phases (7v7, 9v9, & 11v11) based on the age of the athletes (8-19 years old). The main objective of CSC's Player Development Pathway is to help each player reach his/her potential and achieve his/her goals. Depending on a player's commitment to proactively learn about soccer and his/her success on the field the athlete will have opportunities to blossom in the next competitive phase.
Program Success Monitored By
CSC has a two-pronged approach to monitoring success: a coach-to-coach model and a one-on-one player evaluation. The Director of Coaching (also CSC's Executive Director) attends practice sessions of each of the 30 coaches and encourages them to self-reflect on their performance by asking questions and providing feedback. The results are then quantified. This is a continuous and collaborative effort between the Director of Coaching and the team coaches- the objective is to improve the soccer training in order to ensure the success of each individual player.
The one-on-one player evaluation takes place each year in Fall and Spring. Additionally, every coach has a semi-formal performance meeting with each individual athlete to discuss her/her development in their future as an athlete.
CSC's vision and philosophy of ongoing education and learning applies to the players as well as the CSC staff.

Description
Providing access to youth character and leadership development, via soccer, to all socioeconomic backgrounds is a priority for Clarksville Soccer Club. Access due to financial means should never be a prohibiting factor for a family opting to be a member. As such, the club has financial-aid opportunities for youth and families who are desiring to become a part of CSC's community but need financial assistance to do so.
A Need-Based Financial Assistance recipient gains equal access to CSC's programming and thus would enable recipients access to all of the same Club's activities as a team member, as well as CSC's Player Development Programming.
Currently, 12,5% of the players are Financial-Aid participants.
Program Successes
Throughout the years, Clarksville Soccer Club has had families who encountered financial hardship during the season. The two biggest challenges have been a loss of employment or large medical bills. CSC has never lost a player over the past three years because a family experienced a fiscal hardship. The financial aid program has always been able to step in at a family's time of need.

CSC offers financial-aid opportunities to ensure that any deserving player has access to the development opportunities the Club has to offer. A need-based Financial Aid recipient gains equal access to CSC's programming and thus would enable recipients access to all of the same Club's activities as a team member.
Short-term Success
COVID-19 has undoubtedly created new immediate challenges and a new short-term reality. However, CSC is committed to being creative and taking appropriate actions to ensure its mission continues and is delivered safely and sustainably. CSC's community has also been financially impacted by COVID-19, resulting in a spike in our financial aid support requests. Financial support of CSC's financial aid fund is the most immediate and impactful way a funder can support CSC and its community.
Clarksville Soccer Club would be able to provide more uniforms to families who cannot afford them. CSC can also look to provide a discount to the military families who serve our country at Fort Campbell.
Program Success Monitored By
Clarksville Soccer Club has always tracked the success of its financial aid program by comparing the number of financial aid applications with the number of registrations from those families applying for financial aid. Over the last three years, CSC has had a 93% percent registration rate for families applying for Clarksville Soccer Club financial aid. It is CSC's goal to get to 100%. Description
One of the first initiatives Clarksville Soccer Club set in motion in the Spring of 2017 was kids' participation in community service projects. Under the guidance of their coach, all CSC teams select and run an individual project. This is a wonderful opportunity for the athletes to learn the importance of contributing and giving back to the Clarksville community, as well as positively impacting the people within it. For all coaches, their time spent on each project is a pro-bono commitment.
CSC strives to produce high caliber soccer players, as strong character development is an important trait which CSC can instill in the young men and women who are club members.
The Club recognizes the great potential of the game of soccer beyond athletic skill development and competition. It is also a powerful vehicle to teach children valuable life lessons and give back to the community.

"Off the pitch, I had the fortune of joining my Clarksville Soccer Club teammates in various community service activities. Participating in service gave our team the opportunity to work and play together outside practice, training, and competition. I most enjoyed the times we supported our local Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome (CADS) in programs that directly engaged individuals with Down Syndrome in a social activity that brought joy to the participants. The service personally impacted me as I became aware of the needs of others who are unlike myself and instilled in me a sense of commitment to the community in which I live."

It is CSC's goal and long-term vision to develop its members into citizens that value their community and actively contribute to advancing their communities. In a broader sense, the vision includes fostering a love for all people, finding joy in helping others, and becoming good problem solvers that ultimately transform into future leaders in the context of their lives.
Short-term Success
The children experience and express joy when their team participates in a community service project- they feel rewarded. Good service behavior grows organically through action, and the coaches observe over time any type of entitlement (if any) being replaced by kindness and giving.
Program Success Monitored By
Coaches will informally check in with the children during and after a community service project. They often share their own unsolicited comments so the coaches, allowing the coaches to get a good sense of their experience. This allows the coaches to engage the players in a discussion to build awareness at an age-appropriate level.
Coaches lead such community projects on a pro-bono basis. Any resentment that arises is addressed constructively by the Director of Coaching in one-on-one meetings.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought financial difficulties to many families across our country and in our community. We expect our scholarship demand to increase for this coming season accordingly. Unfortunately, the suspension of youth soccer for the spring season has also reduced our club's income and scholarship capabilities. The club is working diligently to mitigate these circumstances, including partnering with outside organizations for grants and fundraising opportunities. |
