Mission
Our mission is to educate and empower young girls and women to utilize their creative talents to enhance their lives and the world around them.
Background
Creative Girls Rock® (CGR) founded October 17, 2017, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization born from a passion for creative arts, youth development, community engagement; and a therapeutic method for anxiety. CGR serves young girls and women of all ethnicities, educational backgrounds, and socio-economic groups, ages 6 years old and older. We also sponsor arts programs and community initiatives specifically for students and families in low-income and underprivileged communities.
CGR Objectives:
Provide instructional information and inspiration to enhance creativity.
Build a sense of self-awareness and confidence in one's creative talents.
Create safe spaces for community interaction and fun across all ages, cultures, and income levels.
Provide an atmosphere for inter-generational networking.
Promote Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects.
CGR Key Initiatives:
1. Creative Arts
Providing activities that allow for creative and imaginative expression, such as visual arts, architecture, crafts, creative movement and writing, drama, drawing, fashion and graphic design, music, painting, photography and sculpture. The creative arts engage minds, bodies, and senses. The arts invite individuals to listen, observe, discuss, move, solve problems, and imagine using multiple modes of thought and self‐expression.
2. Mental Health & Wellness
Providing resources that relate to an individual's emotional, psychological, and social well-being to help build positive characteristics and influence a new way of thinking, which how you feel, cope with stress, overcome challenges, implementing healthier eating habits, physical fitness activities, building relationships, and recovering from life's setbacks and hardships.
3. Women Empowerment
Providing resources to educate and motivate women to achieve personal and professional goals for development, sustainability, innovation, health and overall well-being. Transforming "I can't" to "I can". Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes.
4. Youth Development
Providing resources that prepare a young person to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood and achieve his or her full potential. Youth development is promoted through activities and experiences that help youth develop social, ethical, emotional, physical, and cognitive competencies.
Impact
Creative Girls Rock is proud to offer The CGR Master Class, a free and innovative arts education programming for young girls and women (ages 6 and up), within the Greater Nashville community, which extends globally to involve participants around the world as a platform for creative expression, songwriting, arts and crafts, artistic design, visual arts and empowerment workshops.
We also offer the CGR Mural Project program in which young girls and women are taught the design fundamentals and methods for creating inspirational mural paintings. Participants receive a robust artistic and cultural experience from professional artists by engaging in art-making, exhibiting and promoting cultural equity in project design, process and content, and gaining a thorough understanding of decision-making processes & behaviors.
In addition to these programs, we are proud to offer support services through our Youth Development Community Giveback initiative, the annual Back-2-School Bash, in which we partner with several organizations to provide backpacks filled with school and arts supplies to community members in need. Since 2020, we have distributed over 14,000 backpacks to the Greater Nashville community.
These programs help the 5,500+ youth and women that we serve explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress, anxiety, and boost self-esteem by providing a safe space for them to express themselves through creativity and fellowship.

Despite the fact that our CGR Master Classes are not running in a traditional sense due to the global pandemic, we have doubled our participation with our CGR Virtual Master Classes.

The DIY Craft kits are free and filled with tools and activities to deliver right to each participant's doorstep. This opportunity is made possible by our community partners, sponsors, donors and government grant funding.
I would also like to thank our community partners, donors, family and friends for supporting CGR's mission and key initiatives as we continue to pursue our programming vision. We are grateful for the accomplishments of the past year, and look forward to expanding our reach and services in 2022.
