CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
I've copied and pasted all Board information below, including bios Board of Directors All members are currently serving two-year terms, June 2024 - June 2026 The Board of Directors meets in person quarterly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. 2024 meeting dates - January 15, April 15, September 16 and November 18. Jami Oakley, Board President and Treasurer jami.m.oakley@gmail.com Jami founded UniCycle in 2014 and serves as the organization's executive director in a volunteer capacity, alongside her work developing community partnerships for the Homeless Education Resource Office for Families in Transition (HERO Program) at Metro Nashville Public Schools. She is passionate about finding simple, sustainable solutions to combat common barriers to education using as many existing resources as possible. Catherine Knowles, Vice-President Catherine.knowles@mnps.org Catherine has served as the McKinney-Vento liaison (a federally mandated position in each county nationwide to ensure adequate education for students experiencing homelessness) for Metro Nashville Public Schools for 27 years, and was recognized by the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth as Homeless Liaison of the Year in 2018. She has grown the program in depth and breadth during her tenure, securing dozens of community partners, working closely with other school district staff and intently with families to offer multiple levels of support and to serve as a trusted and steadfast resource in Nashville. Erika Ruiz, Secretary Erikaruiz9@gmail.com Erika is a first generation Cuban-American mother of three in Nashville, and works as the associate general counsel for C2FO, a capital solutions firm. She is active in her children's schools and devotes additional hours to the 4,000+ Nashville youth in unstable housing, using her legally-sharp mind and organizational skills to ensure that UniCycle runs smoothly behind the scenes. Note: UniCycle is currently in the process of an expansion and re-brand, and our Board of Directors will grow to a more robust 6-member board in 2025 accordingly. |
