Although this nonprofit is in its infancy stage, it is backed by over a decade of community volunteer effort. In 2010, Vision 2020 Inc. (another local nonprofit) was selected to participate in theTN Downtown program. One of the areas covered in this program is economic restructuring. As I acquired more knowledge, I conducted/created a community wide economic development strategic plan. With this information in hand, community meetings were held to address the youth, recreation, and workforce readiness issues. From these meetings, #The37150 Community Center was created to resolve the identified areas mentioned above, and go a step further by invoking a cultural interruption and introducing new ideas. And new ideas lead to new solutions for our community 's issues!
