Description
Rocklife Youth operates a year-round after-school program designed to enrich the lives of students and their families. Our program runs for two hours after each school day and includes an engaging eight-week summer camp during the summer months.
We are proud to partner with the Nashville Mayor's Office, Metro Nashville Public Library, and NAZA (Nashville After Zone Alliance), allowing us to serve hundreds of families each year. Notably, 80% of our students come from single-parent households, and our program provides parents with the peace of mind that their children are in a safe and supportive environment while they work.
Housed at Nashville Classical Charter School, Strive Collegiate Academy, and KIPP Academy Nashville, our after-school program features a diverse curriculum that includes STEM learning, literacy training, performing arts, sports, and homework assistance. During the summer, students participate in field trips, leadership training, and various enrichment activities.
Program Successes
In 2016 Isaiah Henderson was enrolled in our summer camp. His family had just moved to Nashville after personal family issues. Isaiah stayed to himself and showed minimal interest to his academics. Isaiah didn't have many friends, nor did he show much interests in our program. Our staff made it intention effort to find his interests and help him discover his leadership qualities. Isaiah picked up videography and photography as hobbies after attending our program. He also began to bond with other youth with common interests. After a short while he began to thrive in our program. He graduated from Belmont University in 2019 and received a degree in finance. Today he owns his own business and is also our Director of Media. Along with working in our media department he also helps mentor youth within our program because he understands the importance of building a youth's confidence.

Long-term Success
We believe in promoting extra-curricular activities during our afterschool program. Youth engagement and attendance is vital for us to thrive. Studies show that students involved in extra-curricular activities have better attendance, higher grades, post high school opportunities, more confidence, more healthy peer to peer relationships, and receive more college funding than their peers who are not involved in extra curricular activities. We offer performing arts and sports to all of our students. When students find passion in the programs we are offering them it is our belief that they will achieve higher grades, higher attendance, and attend higher education institutions at a higher rate than their other peers. We offer all of our students the oppurtuiny to participate in theatre, arts and crafts, dance, music production, film, and various sports clinics. We team up with great enrichment partners to accomplish these efforts.
Short-term Success
By the end of the year it is our goal to expand and partner with more schools and serve more students. We would also like to add more summer programming sites to our organization as well. As of November 2022 we have served 135 students for the year. We wish to serve at least 200 students during 2023. We expand by building more community partnerships, building relationships with more principals, and word of mouth from families currently enrolled in our program.
Program Success Monitored By
We use apps and digital platforms such as Salesforce and Pro Care to track student success within our program. These platform give us real time data and help us track attendance, academic success, and behavioral improvements. On Pro Care we are able to communicate with parents about their children's academics and behavior. We can give them success stories about their child's improvements. At the beginning of each session our staff speaks with each parent about improvements they would like to see in their child at program's end. Both staff and parents can communicate comments and concerns to ensure that we reach our goal with each child.
