We want to make a long-term investment to help mitigate displacement in marginalized communities within the metro Nashville area. We plan to accomplish this goal by developing a displacement funding program that will help build displacement metrics, while also providing low-income families and seniors (either at risk or facing displacement) with emergent funding resources that will help stabilize housing insecurities or provide residents with safe relocation to avoid homelessness. This will be instrumental to expanding economic opportunity to our most vulnerable citizens facing displacement.

Plant, Grow, Love gardens & green space. Is an intergenerational program that will allow our seniors to engage with youth in our communities to enjoy the awesome experience of planting flower gardens together. With the beautiful green space of Silverstone this program will help build connections, community, and a greater appreciation for the environment we live in. We realize that some Senior's love the idea of gardening, but unfortunately have mobility issues therefore, the benches & porches that surround our community will allow them to enjoy the social interaction and give guidance to our youth as they take part in planting. Research shows that there are huge health and socialization benefits to intergenerational programs. The combination of physical movement and social interaction will keep our Senior's engaged and active and allow them to pass along knowledge & wisdom to the next generation. This will also give our senior's a new defined sense of purpose.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

In partnership with local real estate development company Legacy South, we are in the process of developing our first affordable independent senior community for rent in the North Nashville area with an anticipated development start date of August 2024.

Design features include units that are ADA compliant to promote/ increase physical accessibility. The infrastructure will include pavements, walkways, and safe pedestrian crossings complementing the evolving neighborhood that is beneficial for residents of all ages within the community. An age-friendly building infrastructure will accommodate accessible public and outdoor spaces to increase community engagement. In addition, each cottage style home will have a front porch that faces their neighbors, a community garden, and walkway with rest benches to increase social engagement, physical activity, and reduce social isolation. Collaborating with other existing senior organizations will integrate community engagement to increase social inclusion. The design features will also enrich the value of the community, increasing opportunities for residents to live productive lives. With an estimated 2.5 billion dollars in new developments on the horizon in North Nashville, this project will increase access to new residential spaces, shops, and restaurants that will be an asset to the progressive changes to revitalize the neighborhood. The contribution of this framework is to assure development without displacement.
