Mission

To provide assurance to caregivers regarding the safety of their children and loved ones while at school and childcare centers.

Background

Assurance Mamas, Inc. was founded in April 2023. The founders, Jessica Gillis and Shelby Carden, are both mothers and Certified Public Accountants. When The Covenant School shooting occurred in Nashville, TN on March 27, 2023, Jessica and Shelby immediately wanted to take action to help keep children in schools and childcare centers across the state of Tennessee safe, and established Assurance Mamas.

The name Assurance Mamas is an ode to the founders' accounting background, as "assurance" is a widely used accounting term, while also encompassing the desire to provide assurance, or confidence, to caregivers regarding the safety of loved ones while at school or a childcare center.

The Assurance Mamas logo was designed to honor the six innocent lives lost at The Covenant School that inspired the birth of the organization with six flowers and the time of the shooting on the school's clock.

Impact

Our most important impact goals for the next twelve months include providing our services to at least five schools or childcare centers, to obtain and secure funding to meet current budgeted needs, and spread awareness of our mission through social media. We estimate an average of 86 children per childcare center and 958 students per school served will be impacted by our program.

Needs

Our current needs include financial support for our program services. Our services ranges from $500 to $3,000 per school or childcare center served. Vulnerability assessments are our top priority which can be performed on a stand alone basis or along with a training program and average $500 to $1,000 based on the size of the school or childcare center. Active aggressor training is our second most important priority, and costs a minimum of $3,000 per school or child care center served.

CEO Statement

As a mother of two little boys that relies on the safety of childcare and schools, Assurance Mamas mission is very important to me. I would love to drop my kids off each day for school and never have to worry that something bad may happen to them that is outside of my control. Unfortunately, that is not the reality we face, which is why this mission is so personal to me and for other caregivers in my shoes. By simply spreading awareness of who Assurance Mamas is and what we do, I know we can impact lives and provide caregivers peace of mind.
