Mission

We educate a diverse community of K-8 scholars though a joyful, rigorous curriculum and within a structured, intentional culture, building a foundation of knowledge and habits for high school, college, and life.

Background

As a school, our commitment is to combine a classical framework with seven core beliefs of successful, urban charter schools. (1) All scholars can and will learn. (2) All scholars must be reading at or above grade level by third grade. (3) All staff receive daily, weekly, and monthly targeted professional development. (4) Structure is the foundation for joy and creativity. (5) K-2 assessments must address math and literacy development; grades 3-8 assessments must address mastery of skill and content in every subject. (6) A longer school day/year and strategic daily schedule maximize achievement. (7) A deep, pro-active partnership between home and school fosters scholars' achievement.
These core beliefs, embedded into our design alongside a classical framework, create a unique school design. Nashville Classical is built to make history by proving a great school can exist in any neighborhood and a great education can be delivered to every child.

Impact

CURRENT IMPACT: Nashville Classical currently has 530 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. During the 2017-2018 school year, Nashville Classical was recognized as Nashville's Best Nonprofit by the Nashville Business Journal. Also, three of our teachers were awarded the Blue Ribbon Prize for excellence in Instruction by the Nashville Public Education Foundation in 2022. On the TNReady Exam, Nashville Classical ranked as the 3rd in overall math and reading achievement out of all Davidson County open-enrollment elementary and middle schools. In 2019, Nashville Classical was named a TN Reward School for excellence in academic achievement and growth.

Needs

In November 2021, Nashville Classical was approved by the Metropolitan Board of Education to open a second school, growing our impact from 550 students to nearly 1200 students per year. In order to open a second campus, Nashville Classical will need to fundraise approximately 5 million dollars over the next 5 years to cover the costs of facilities, centralized operations, and startup.
