Charles's Experience: Charles Edward Lee is a composer, pianist, and songwriter with extensive education and experience in the music and film industries.
Having earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance, Lee worked for many years in the music industry serving as the assistant to acclaimed Nashville Symphony Pops conductor, Ronn Huff. Lee also assisted Huff with session scores for artists such as Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Alison Kraus and Emmylou Harris.
After many years of working as a professional musician in Nashville, Lee began shifting his focus to writing music for film. His study of film took him to Los Angeles where he was able to refine his composition skills for film and television music under the tutelage of several leading composers and orchestrators including Robert Drasnin ("The Kremlin Letter", "Twilight Zone", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Mission Impossible") Steven Scott Smalley ("Starship Troopers", "Scrooged"), Dennis Dreith ("Misery", "The Rock") and Michael Giacchino (Academy Award winning composer for "Up").
Three years of intensive studies at UCLA culminated in Lee receiving the BMI/Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Scholarship. Legendary film composer Jerry Goldsmith (Academy Award winner for "The Omen") personally selected Mr. Lee's compositions for recognition from among 200 international composers.
Lee is also one of the founders of Olorin Productions. In addition to providing original music content for feature films and television, Olorin specializes in post-production audio including ADR, sound effects, foley, and re-recording mixing.
Most recently, Lee continues to write and compose, including original scores for the films "Awakened" and "Take A Chance". "Take A Chance" was one of the final films featuring the legendary martial arts actor "Sonny" Chiba.
Lee lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife Michele. He is currently working on the score for a sports drama. |
