CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
A nonprofit agency will never go further than its board of directors can take it. Fortunately, FiftyForward has a dynamic, engaged, forward-thinking board comprised of passionate, intelligent individuals. These individuals joined together, and as the collective board, over the years, led the efforts to bring about wonderful change for the agency. Through board member-led initiatives, along with guidance and support from agency leadership, FiftyForward secured government funding for the nationally-accredited senior centers all across the state of Tennessee in 2018. Long before those efforts were realized, joint board/leadership efforts brought about successful capital campaigns which led to The Larry Keeton Theater at Donelson Station; the FiftyForward Patricia Hart Building; FiftyForward Knowles; the first partnership with a YMCA and a senior center in the FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center in Bellevue; and the FiftyForward Martin Center in Brentwood. Board members are actively engaged in advocacy efforts, believe it is their primary role to map out the strategic direction for the agency, and are focused on leading FiftyForward so it can continue to be the premier agency providing programs and services for individuals over 50. As the CEO, I consider it not only fortunate but great fun to work with board members who not only completely understand their roles but also undertake them with such vigor. FiftyForward is a success, in large part, because of its phenomenal board of directors. |
