Background
GivingMatters.com was launched by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in 2004. The initiative was a collaborative effort on the part of a group of Middle Tennesee funders who wanted to away to increase nonprofit transparency, to decrease redundancy and the duplication of effort for nonprofits, and to provide a searchable database of nonprofits in Middle Tennessee.
Impact
GivingMatters.com informs, empowers, and enriches charitable giving in Middle Tennessee - benefiting donors, nonprofits, and the community at large. GivingMatters.com furthers the cause of philanthropy in our region by promoting nonprofit transparency (putting information at the fingertips of donors, volunteers, and community members in an easy-to-use, searchable database), providing a free fundraising and marketing tool for participating charities, and offering a free online donation tool for all profiled nonprofits. GivingMatters.com encourages nonprofit organizational self-assessment; promotes informed philanthropy by providing critical information to donors; and helps nonprofits locate resources for capacity development. GivingMatters.com contains 1,500 detailed profiles of Middle TN nonprofits organizations and is free to both nonprofits and the public.
Needs
As GivingMatters.com continues to grow, we need support from our foundation partners and other users of the site to continue our strategic partnership with NeonOne, to build capacity to host and maintain additional profiles, and to deploy new technology features, such as the upcoming improvements to the nonprofit user portal.
