CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

From Executive Director Drew Ogle:

The Nashville Repertory Theatre board is comprised of individuals from the private, public, academic, and government sectors. Each is selected through a rigorous recruitment program that matches the needs of the organization, the needs of our stakeholders, and the skills and background of the candidate.

Subject expertise represented on the abroad includes communications, finance, legal, education, real estate, health and safety, and government affairs. The board also includes artist representatives from the Nashville theatre community.

We are proud to enjoy 100% giving by our board. Each board member commits to supporting the organization financially by:

-Making an individual gift of significance
-Purchasing season tickets
-Purchasing tickets to the annual fundraiser

The board meets bi-monthly, five times per year, with the executive committee meeting six times per year in the off months from the full board.

A full board orientation session is held each summer. As board members generally come from outside the nonprofit sector, Nashville Rep is committed to board development. Each board meeting includes at least one presentation designed to enhance our leaders' nonprofit governance skills or to give them a deeper understanding of the unique challenges that nonprofits face compared to the for-profit and public sectors. Anti-racist training and EDIA training is mandatory.

The current strategic plans takes the company through 2024. This plan was produced by a comprehensive and inclusive planning process, including a deep dive into equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts at the organization. This included quantitative surveys of multiple stakeholder groups (audiences, artists, board, staff, individual donors, community partners), a series of focus groups and workshops to solicit in-depth and qualitative feedback, and one-on-one conversations with key stakeholders.
