Description
We work to build a county-wide culture of walking and biking with fun and educational opportunities such as Tour de Nash (Nashville's largest urban bike ride with routes for all levels and abilities) and Open Streets (to inspire the reimagining of public spaces by temporarily turning a street into a car-free public park to walk, bike, play, and socialize). We also provide bike valet service for some of the city's largest and most popular festivals and sporting events including all home Nashville Soccer Club matches.

Safe Routes to Schools, a national effort designed to increase the amount of student walking and biking to school, is proven to help improve student attendance, physical fitness, mental wellness, and academic achievement. Walk Bike Nashville is working with various Metro Nashville Public Schools to identify and develop opportunities to reduce children's barriers to safely walking and biking to school. Strategies often include, but are not limited to utilizing: Walking School Bus and/or Bike Trains, Bike Rodeos -- fun and interactive on-bike workshops for children of all ages to learn basic bike and road safety information, Walking and Biking Clubs -- during or after-school clubs to teach and engage children in walking and biking activities. Our Safe Routes to Schools program also includes Walk to School Day and Bike to School Day.

Description
Walk Bike Nashville works to promote policy and infrastructure that supports walking and bicycling. We want all Nashvillians to have the option of walking and biking, no matter where they live or where they want to go. To achieve this goal we work with city officials to expand safe bikeways, sidewalks, greenways, and access to transit; we develop specific asks for infrastructure campaigns; we provide resources to community groups; and we are a voice in the room during countless discussions about the future of our city's streets.
