Description
Our Positive Discipline education is provided by a staff member who is the only certified Positive Discipline associate in the state. This training is available to any member of the Nashville community and is offered serveral times throughout the year. It specifically is designed to create positive relationships within families and classrooms. In 2008, Abintra began a parent education program to assist all Abintra parents and students in understanding and appreciating the diversity of our parent community which include gay and lesbian parents.

Description
Visiting artists integrate art into the curriculum by providing visual and performing arts. Students have performed in many student-written productions on campus and at other local venues. From flamenco to printmaking to drumming, art education at Abintra has always been a strong curricular component.

Created in 1997, this fund has supported faculty salaries for inclusion support, foreign language, and Montessori education.

Description
Classrooms serve 130 students between the ages of 3 and 14. The three preschool classrooms offer instruction in both Spanish and English. The school's focus is a child-directed, respect-based environment that allows students to discover their strengths and their ability to contribute to the larger community. The school values different learning needs, speeds, and styles, as well as ethnicity and cultural differences. The classrooms are rich in manipulative Montessori materials and offer students freedom of movement. The visual and performing arts are a key component of the integrated curriculum. A close association with a small, local farm offers elementary and middle school students an opportunity to work with the land and care for animals on a regular basis.

This fund was started in 1994 by four 6th-grade boys as their graduation gift to the school. The primary purpose of this fund is to support need-based assistance to families who are committed to providing a Montessori education for their children through middle school. Annually this fund supports 12% of our students through tuition assistance and scholarships. Funds are raised for this program on an annual basis and through our endowment.
