Lauren's Experience: Lauren Dougall is nonprofit professional specializing in fund development, social enterprise, program development, and strategic planning. Lauren has 15 years of experience working with small to medium-sized organizations that are primed for growth. She has a passion for organizations working with underserved/under-employed populations due to homelessness, criminal records, and disabilities/mental health issues as well as organizations that utilize the transformational power of the human-animal bond for the greater good.

Lauren holds a master's degree in Public Service Administration from Cumberland University and a bachelor's degree in Development and International Relations from London Metropolitan University. Lauren is also certified through the National Institute of Corrections as an Offender Workforce Development Specialist and Reentry Specialist; and has worked in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Correction at a leading reentry organization in Nashville in business and fund development, developing leads, funding, and securing contracts with local businesses to employ formerly incarcerated individuals through an in-house social enterprise staffing agency accounting for 25 percent of the organizational budget.

Prior to joining Retrieving Independence as Chief Executive Officer in 2022, Lauren served in leadership positions as Fund Development Director for several Nashville nonprofits: Project Return, The Contributor, and Agape Rescue and Training Center. To assist her fundraising efforts, she earned a diploma in Fundraising Management from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2017.

Working within the Nashville nonprofit landscape for the past decade, Lauren is passionate about public service, and is involved in multiple community organizations as a volunteer: Agape Animal Rescue and Training Center, Friends of Mill Ridge Park, and Daybreak Arts.
