Description
Through the Basics in Bulk program, the Community Resource Center provides bulk monthly hygiene and household cleaning products to a network of vetted nonprofits and schools across six counties in Middle Tennessee. Each monthly order is packed to the specific request of each participating agency and is tailored directly to the client population that agency serves. Each monthly order provides nearly $2,000 in basic essential products per partner. There is no cost to the nonprofit partner or school for this program.

Personal Care Pantries contain hygiene and household cleaning supplies that are open to the public and provide low or no barrier-access to non-food basic essentials. These pantries are available in community-based Resource Center and in school districts across Middle Tennessee. On average, one of the CRC's Personal Care Pantries serves 300 individuals a month, providing over $10,000 of products to that community per year.

The Community Resource Center staff and volunteer pack to support the entire household with enough products to serve the family for 2-3 months.
Additionally, the Community Resource Center has partnered with MNPS's HERO (Homeless Education Resource Office) to provide a hygiene kit to every student experiencing homelessness throughout the entire district. As a result, the CRC provides over 3,500 HERO Hygiene Kits to students every year.
With this program, the Community Resource Center plays an integral role in MNPS's multi-tiered response to chronic absenteeism.

The Community Resource Center packages and distributes hygiene and household cleaning kits on a consistent and ongoing basis to ensure that our seniors, particularly those who are living on a fixed income and/or are home-bound, have access to the products they need to thrive. These kits are then distributed at our partner Senior Center facilities and/or are delivered directly to the home alongside fresh, nutritious meals.

The Community Resource Center supports all facets of the disaster recovery process including disaster preparedness, immediate response, community-wide clean-up and long-term disaster recovery for those individuals who have been impacted by the disaster. Since 2020, the Community Resource Center has activated its Disaster Response arm several times, including the March 2020 tornado, the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Christmas Day bombing, the 2021 floods in Nashville and in Waverly and the December 2021 tornados.

| The Community Resource Center provides new and gently used household goods to nonprofit partner agencies and their clients. Our major program is Supply Central, which stocks hundreds of new items obtained at liquidation sales and auctions. We conduct free monthly giveaways for our partner agencies. Community Cares is our program that provides new household goods to those entering affordable or transitional housing at no charge. Additional programs include In-House Referral, which provides large items such as furniture, appliances and equipment at no charge. These items are provided by corporate and private donors. And our Wish and Volunteer Listings provide content submitted to the Tennessean for weekly publication on behalf of any 501(c)3 agency. |
