Budget
$250,000.00
Description
This program is designed to engage all the communities of Nashville. It is designed as an 18-month process that will leverage local peer nonprofits and other critical partners to listen to residents' concerns over mobility and present potential projects to ease challenges.

By listening to and engaging with those who live, work, and play in Nashville, we expect to gain a deeper understanding of real mobility challenges. Additionally, it presents opportunities for community members to actively engage in helping design creative solutions to those challenges. This is the only way we can arrive at potential projects that could build a better Nashville for all.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

If the Transit Alliance is a superhero, then the Transit Citizen Leadership Academy (TCLA) is our superpower. TCLA offers participants unparalleled access to resources and information, empowering them to become knowledgeable voices on transportation and mobility in our region. Through TCLA, we educate residents on how road, infrastructure, and transit projects are selected and funded, equipping communities to advocate effectively for sustainable, equitable solutions.

However, the challenges we face in addressing transportation needs in our rapidly growing region are substantial and constantly evolving. Transportation is a complex issue that intersects with economic, environmental, and social considerations. Balancing growth with sustainability, ensuring access across diverse communities, and maintaining momentum for transit investments all require vigilant, dedicated efforts. Our programs confront these complexities head-on by immersing participants in real-world data, hands-on learning, and conversations with national and regional experts who've tackled similar issues elsewhere.

Yet, one of our most pressing challenges is having the bandwidth to expand this crucial work. Demand for our programs continues to rise, but without additional staff and resources, we cannot keep up with the outreach required to build widespread understanding and consensus. Expanding TCLA and our other initiatives would allow us to engage even more residents, meeting the growing need for accessible, in-depth information about the true value of transit investments. Each session requires intensive planning and coordination, and scaling up will require the right resources.

More staff would enable us to deepen our reach, creating the foundation for transformative policies that directly impact quality of life, economic opportunity, and environmental resilience in our communities. Without a dedicated team, we risk slowing progress on this critical issue and missing out on vital federal and state funding opportunities that can propel our region forward.

People often aren't aware of the complexities of transportation, which is why TCLA's comprehensive approach is essential. This is where understanding begins-and where solutions take shape. But we need the capacity to deliver this impact on a larger scale, making the Transit Alliance a stronger, more powerful advocate for our region's mobility future. With your support, we can achieve the growth needed to drive meaningful change and bring Nashville closer to a sustainable, thriving, and inclusive transit system.
