Mission

The mission of the MHOF is to honor all great musicians regardless of genre or instruments. This is done by exhibiting the actual instrument they used to record some of the most iconic songs in recorded history. Not only does the MHOF entertain local and international visitors but also educates them about the musicians who actually played on the sound tracks of their lives.

Background

The Musicians Hall of Fame is a premiere Nashville attraction and the one and only museum in the world that honors the talented musicians who actually played on the greatest recordings of all time. Some like Jimi Hendrix are well known, while others like L.A session drummer Hal Blaine are not as well known to the public, but have played on hundreds of hit records from Elvis, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, The Byrds, The Mamas and The Papas and The Beach Boys, just to name a very few. The Musicians Hall Of Fame And Museum has on exhibit the very instruments that these musicians used to record many of these classic hits. As Neil Young said about the Museum: "Everyone has shows for the hood ornament. Don't forget what's under the hood."

CEO Statement

Here at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, we aim to give the world's best experience to those who enter our doors. Whether you are a musician or just love to listen to music, we have something for you. We educate the masses with one of kind exhibits that are broken down geographically into the major music cities, recording studios, and the music/musicians that came out of them. From ages 0+, our museum entertains and educates. It is not our opinion, but a fact that the instruments that are in our museum were played by some the best studio musicians around. Our goal is to honor those who created your favorite music from 1950 to today. The session players are who need to be noted. Without them, your favorite guitar solos or the cool bass lines--ect...would have never existed.

Board Chair Statement

We will always face challenges. No matter what business one is in, they will have ups and downs. We have had devastating losses but incredible gains in the past 7 years. The largest challenge was the Nashville flood of 2010. Many instruments are still needing to be restored and repaired-some are still in beginning stages due to the extent of damage as well as lack of funding. It is a constant challenge for the people of Nashville and tourists to find our building. After the flood, the Music City Center took over our previous building as well as many other businesses--Now we are off the beaten path. Although we have been successful in building our reputation as one of the top sites to visit in Nashville, TN, we still struggle with location as we are under an auditorium. Some of our biggest successes are; acquiring the Enactron Trailer--the first if not the only mobile recording units in all of history, acquiring and beginning the Jimi Hendrix exhibit that is set to open to the public in January, hiring someone who is over Museum Education, partnering with metro schools, and dedicating the theatre to the one and only Jerry Kennedy. Since our newest hire over museum education, we have had Educator Open House nights and they have brought in more scheduled school tours. Like any business, we have our challenges and successes-but we are looking toward a brighter future.
