Mission

The mission of the Medical Foundation of Nashville is to empower our community by supporting health access, promoting healthy lifestyles, championing health and medical education, and cooperating with other charitable entities to work towards a healthier Nashville.

Background

In 2005, Nashville physicians and area hospitals launched a bold initiative to provide specialty care to those in need in our city. Since then, more than 1,964 physicians and partners have given over $58.4 million in donated health care services, which equates to more than 41,000 appointments. Lives have been saved, vision has been restored, people have been able to return to work to support their families; all because of the compassion and care they received through Project Access Nashville Specialty Care, which was originally called Bridges to Care Plus. In 2018, the Medical Foundation of Nashville was founded and began operating Project Access Nashville Specialty Care. In addition to Project Access Nashville Specialty Care, the Medical Foundation of Nashville also offers public health education and education for physicians and physicians in training.

Impact

While our signature program launched in 2005 with our partners the Nashville Academy of Medicine, the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee, and the Metro Nashville Public Health Department, accomplishments in 2022 include:
* $5.86 million in donated care
* 4,446 clinical hours volunteered
* 75,727 care coordination encounters

Needs

The Medical Foundation of Nashville needs clinical and non-clinical volunteers to assist our patients. Volunteer physicians are needed in a variety of specialties to care for patients in the practice as well as in organization's office to provide administrative support, patient outreach, and help with other tasks. CEO Statement

The Medical Foundation of Nashville is delighted to work with the many health-focused nonprofits in service of the Nashville community. We are honored to build on the legacy started by the Nashville Academy of Medicine and the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee when they began Project Access Nashville Specialty Care in 2005. This amazing program has taken the model designed in Buncombe County, North Carolina and implemented it here, with the focus of ensuring all individuals in Nashville have access to quality healthcare. Project Access Nashville, along with our public health education and education for the doctors of today and tomorrow all combine to empower our community as we work towards a healthier Nashville.
