Mission

The mission of the Center for Nonprofit Management is to amplify the impact of nonprofits and their partners. Our vision is a connected community equipped to realize our greatest opportunities.

Background

Since 1986, the Center for Nonprofit Management has strengthened and supported the Middle Tennessee nonprofit community. At CNM, nonprofit board members, executives, and staff learn how to enhance their services through our comprehensive calendar of skill-building workshops, with topics that range from fundraising and planning to marketing, board development, and more.

Our team of expert consultants collaborates with organizations for in-depth projects to create transformational change. Nonprofit organizations benefit from CNM membership in many ways, including using scholarship funds to pay for workshops, free job postings, affinity groups, university partnerships that provide scholarships and benefits, access to cohort learning, and more.

CNM also celebrates the enormous impact made by our nonprofit members through the annual Salute to Excellence awards dinner, the largest nonprofit awards ceremony in the country. In 2022, over $254,000 was awarded to over 30 organizations and individuals in various categories recognizing nonprofit excellence.

Impact

In 2023, the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) proudly served and empowered 855 nonprofit organizations in the nonprofit sector. Through 70 dynamic workshops and events we equipped over 1184 nonprofit employees with essential skills and knowledge to drive impactful change in their communities.

At CNM, our strength lies in our ability to network and convene, fostering collaboration and synergy among our members. This commitment to collective action earned us two prestigious awards for diversity and inclusion, underscoring our dedication to fostering equitable and inclusive spaces within the nonprofit sector.

Furthermore, our partnership with Nashville Health expanded our reach, allowing us to address critical health disparities and promote holistic well-being in the communities we serve. Additionally, we proudly partnered with the Urban League of Middle Tennessee for the Sam Howard Empowerment Fund, furthering our mission to empower marginalized communities and create pathways to success for all.

Needs

In today's rapidly evolving nonprofit landscape, organizations face an ever-growing array of challenges and opportunities. From navigating complex regulatory requirements to adapting to shifting community needs, nonprofits require comprehensive support to thrive and drive meaningful impact. Many organizations lack access to the resources, expertise, and networks necessary to address these challenges effectively. As a result, there is a critical need for centralized support and capacity building initiatives tailored to the unique needs of nonprofit organizations.

The Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) recognizes this need and is committed to providing the essential tools, training, and partnerships required to empower nonprofits and maximize their potential for success. We are dedicated to continually evaluating and enhancing our programming to ensure it remains responsive to the evolving needs of our members and the communities they serve.
