With 50,000 hits a month, CNM's nonprofit job board is the No. 1 resource for sector employment. In 2022 alone, CNM posted over 2700 nonprofit jobs to our job board. Our members asked, and we listened - new for 2023 will be the addition of board positions. This initiative is important to CNM's commitment to promoting and growing a diverse and equipped leadership pipeline in Nashville's nonprofit sector.

Description
Every year, CNM offers nearly 100 workshops led by industry leaders to meet the needs of nonprofit staff members, boards, and volunteers. Workshop categories include fundraising, planning and evaluation, management and leadership, marketing and communications, volunteer management, board development, professional development, finance, and human resources. Other education offerings include specialty sessions, such as OnBoard for future civic leaders. CNM also leads customized training to fit an organization's exact needs.

The country's largest nonprofit awards ceremony, Salute brings together leaders in local business, community, and nonprofit sectors for a night of celebration. In its 29 years, the event has featured more than 600 nonprofit finalists and awarded more than $3 million to exemplary recipient organizations and their leadership.

In 2021, DEI workshops were attended by 450 nonprofit leaders. Our education department increased DEI content in our coursework by 40%, featuring DEI modules and content in 42 (roughly 50%) of our regularly scheduled workshops. Workshops specifically related to DEI include DEI in Your Board Recruitment, Understanding Identity & Unconscious Bias, Inclusive Leadership, and Becoming an Inclusion Ambassador.

Description
CNM's 'Community Conversations' event series brings people from diverse backgrounds together to examine systemic biases and engage in change-making discussions. During bi-weekly virtual and in-person events, topics related to equity, justice, and inclusion across the board are brought to the table by an expert facilitator and CNM staffer, Dawn Stone.

Versed in hosting and guiding meaningful and disruptive conversations, she invites historically marginalized groups to the table. Sample 2021 topics included Equity & Access in Education, LGBTQ+ Conversations on Policies & Lived Experiences, Sustainability & Networking for Change, and Community Engagement & Movement Building.

Description
The Sam Howard Empowerment Fund is a joint initiative of Urban League of Middle Tennessee and CNM to support nonprofit leaders of color with professional development opportunities. The Sam Howard Empowerment Fund exists to support emerging and established leaders of color in the nonprofit sector in Middle Tennessee with professional development opportunities. Successful applicants will receive up to $500 in scholarship funds to be applied toward CNM's professional development workshops and certificates.

The fund emerged from a partnership between Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) and the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM), and it is made possible by the generous support of The Frist Foundation.

It is named in memory of Sam Howard, a health care pioneer, businessman, and nonprofit leader in Middle Tennessee.

Description
The Innovation Catalyst (iCat) is a robust, immersive cohort-based program built to help nonprofit organizations develop new initiatives that improve their sustainability and mission impact.

Through a competitive application and interview process, CNM and CauseImpact will select a small cohort of organizations (Impact Teams) that are ready, willing, and able to commit the time, effort, and resources needed to support meaningful innovation. The program works at a pace designed for busy nonprofit leaders and boards.

Expert coaches and consultants from CauseImpact will guide a cohort of organizations as they clarify strategic priorities, improve sustainability, diversify revenue, and engage current funders and stakeholders in new and different ways.

CNM devotes considerable attention to measuring its performance and using the results to improve our services for nonprofit organizations. We measure our education and consulting programs immediately upon their completion, as well as months after that completion, in order to gauge results longitudinally.
