Mission
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease and our work is about people and science.
Background
The Alzheimer's Association Tennessee Chapter was formed in June 2001 when four smaller Chapters merged to the form the new Tennessee Chapter. The merger addressed the smaller chapters needs for more organizational management and more long-term strategic planning. The merger was a part of a national program to strengthen the Association and to bring together all the skills needed to make the overwhelming increase in the number of Americans with Alzheimer's disease. Since the merger, the Tennessee Chapter has continued to grow its programs and services to meet the ever increasing demand for information, education, and support regarding Alzheimer's disease and caring for Alzheimer's patients. The Chapter's major objectives for the coming year include expansion of existing programs and events, as well to address the community's needs as a whole regarding Alzheimer's disease and related Dementias.
