Renee's Experience: Renee Chapman was born and raised in Wilson, NC by a dad who sang in a Southern Gospel quartet and a mom who plays a mean radio. After doing some trio singing in church Renee discovered the awesomeness of choral music as a junior in high school, and because of the influence and inspiration of her choir director, went on to earn her B.M. in music education and vocal pedagogy from East Carolina University in 1987. She taught choral music at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for four years in Wilmington, North Carolina before marrying and moving to Florida, where she continued to teach middle and high school chorus as well as private voice and piano lessons for four years.

Since then, she has been an active member of her churches' choir and worship teams, as well as serving as a children's choir and youth ensemble director and assisting with adult choir instruction. For the past eight years she has offered private voice instruction and taught choirs for middle and high school-aged homeschoolers. Choirs under her direction have consistently received superior ratings at local adjudication festivals. She delights in helping students discover their voice and nurturing in them a lifelong love of music. Renee is a member of the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association, where she currently serves on the board as the High School Choral Festival Chairperson.

She and her husband, Chris, have four adult children, all of whom were homeschooled, the youngest of whom is a Music major at ECU, Renee's alma mater. When she's not teaching choir or looking for more fantastic choral music, she's likely to be found gardening, reading (preferably at the beach!), or spending time with her granddaughter.
