CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
One of the challenges that small non-profit agencies continually face is the ability to provide 'best practices' policies in services and for personnel. We are fortunate to have Board members who assist executive staff in writing policy. In 2008, The Personnel Committee of the Board of Directors and Executive Staff completed revision of the Personnel Policies. These revisions were approved by the Board of Miriam's Promise and were effective January, 2008.Our Board of Directors and Executive leadership believe strongly in the value of continuing education and professional development. They work hard to make certain that those funds are available. During our explorations to develop an attachment therapy program, staff members discovered a premiere training event for therapists. Although late in the year and not included in the budget, Board members donated necessary funds for the training of 3 staff counselors. In 2012 and 2013, 4 staff members completed intensive training through Texas Christian University, Institute of Child Development with Dr. Karyn Purvis in Trust Based Relational Intervention. Miriam's Promise has worked to develop relationships with local colleges and universities providing social work and counseling programs. In the past, we have had both undergraduate and graduate interns from Belmont, Vanderbilt, Trevecca, UT College of Social Work, and one summer intern from Yale University. |
