Executive Director Ms. Sallie Hussey
E-mail shussey@fiftyforward.org
Term Start January 2019
Sallie's Experience: Sallie Hussey, originally from Mississippi, has worked in the Nashville nonprofit sector for 20 years. She began her work at FiftyForward, then became the executive director for CASA of Nashville, helping grow the agency and relocate it to its current home in East Nashville. She became the CEO of Bridges Serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in 2008, leading it through a merger, relocation, and financial struggles and helping the agency secure CNM's coveted Salute to Excellence Memorial Foundation Leadership Award in 2011. Hussey holds a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a master's in public relations and advertising from the University of Alabama. She was named one of The Tennessean's Top 40 under 40 Business Leaders, was a member of Leadership Nashville class of 2004, and is a Rotarian. Having "returned home" to FiftyForward, Hussey is excited about returning to her roots and leading an agency that supports, champions and enhances life for those 50 and older, a group that is growing exponentially as is the need for services and resources for this demographic. Prior to joining FiftyForward, Hussey served as chief development officer at The Next Door, an addiction treatment center for women, to create the agency's fundraising program.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

The population continues to age, and statistics, studies, and census numbers point in that direction. FiftyForward and its programs and services have never been more relevant than now and have, quite possibly, never been as important as they will be in the next decade. Fortunately, the agency has over 100 years of management experience combined within the top level of leadership. Our task, if not an expressly stated goal, is to make certain programs and services provided through the agency's seven lifelong learning centers and the supportive care programs are relevant, meet the needs of the individuals in our state, and continue to be forward-thinking, problem-solving options for those in need. The FiftyForward leadership team critically measures and evaluates programs regularly with the goal of constant improvement. We're embarking on a journey to see how we can engage new technology platforms into both programs and services. Staff always work to keep programs relevant, effective, and cost efficient. This year, we'll make certain to engage the community and the members we serve so we can meet these program needs in the coming decade and longer.
