CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Currently, GSE has six paid full-time staff members. One of the six is CEO Scott Blais, who takes a salary that is much lower than CEOs in equivalent positions with less experience and one other. Since our organization is still in its infancy, we are trying to ensure that all money raised goes directly to the development and formation of Elephant Sanctuary Brazil, and education programs. Part of our goal as a nonprofit is to ensure that people's donations go towards what they are donating for- the elephants. Salaries for upper management will be kept low to ensure that people who donate their hard-earned money are not paying inflated salaries of management. We have spoken directly to donors who literally skip a cup of coffee a week to be able to donate, children who donate their allowance to help elephants (and literally send coins in the mail), and those that go without a small luxury to be able to help. No matter how large or small, we choose to respect those donors and ensure their funds are used appropriately and responsibly.
