Mission
The State Collaborative on Reforming Education's (SCORE) mission is to catalyze transformative change in Tennessee education so that all students can achieve success in college, career, and life.
Background
SCORE is an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan advocacy and research institution, founded in 2009 by Senator Bill Frist, MD, former US Senate Majority Leader. SCORE believes all Tennessee students deserve success in college, career, and life. We support a unified and coordinated approach to education - from kindergarten through postsecondary - focused on helping all students' complete high school and postsecondary education, earning the diplomas and credentials needed for a rewarding career.
Impact
SCORE has four goals that govern the organization's work to drive success for all students in Tennessee through 2023: All students receive an excellent public K-12 education. All students earn a credential or postsecondary degree. All students are prepared for a career that enables economic independence. Across all goals, all students have equitable opportunities for success. To achieve these goals, SCORE has three strategic priorities: Excellent educators: Preparing, recruiting, supporting, and retaining excellent teachers & leaders High expectations: Ensuring all schools and systems meet high expectations K-12 to career alignment: Aligning K-12 and college with career and life success SCORE's theory of action is oriented around an iterative cycle of monitoring the state's education progress, prioritizing the state's education reform agenda, and informing and influencing state policy.
