Mission
We exist to bring freedom to the oppressed by demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ, preventing human trafficking, and restoring communities.
Background
The historical Khmer Rouge genocide along with current trends of extreme poverty, lack of education, conflict and family migration has put many children and adults in SE Asia at risk for being trafficked, exploited, and abused. Consider these statistics: On any given day, it is estimated that over 40 million people worldwide are victims of modern slavery. 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children. (ILO 2017) With widespread poverty and a lack of opportunities, Cambodia is consistently ranked in the top 10 countries worldwide for human trafficking prevalence (Global Slavery Index).
Freedom's Promise is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that partners with indigenous people groups in SE Asia to prevent human trafficking and child exploitation by transforming communities. In conjunction with our on-the-ground partners, we create individualized, holistic community development programs that promotes self-sustainability in high-risk communities. The following THRIVE Model of Freedom's Promise has been developed over the years since our foundation in 2007. We follow best-practice standards by equipping local leaders to improve their own communities. In healthy communities, trafficking is prevented and people groups are thriving.
Trafficking Awareness: We equip individuals to protect their families and communities by providing training to recognize and address vulnerabilities and identify tactics used by traffickers.
Healthcare: We build strong communities by providing basic medical care, educating individuals on nutrition and disease prevention, and mobilizing community health leaders.
Restoration through Christ: We equip local leaders and pastors to instill self-worth through discipleship based in the love of Jesus Christ.
Income Opportunities: We provide dignified employment opportunities for individuals to earn a fair wage in a safe environment.
Vocational Training: We equip at-risk individuals with the skills training needed to secure reliable jobs and provide for their families.
Education: We invest in the next generation of children and young adults by providing safe play spaces and quality learning environments.

CEO Statement
Dear Freedom's Promise Family,
What a year of celebration! Looking back over the last 15 years, our team has reflected on just how far we have come. 2022 was a big year of restructuring, growth, and expansion. From the launch of our first ever capital campaign to onboarding new team members in the states and overseas, we remain grateful for all the Lord is doing through your partnership in His work!
Statistics indicate that nearly 50 million people are living in modern slavery today. This is more than ever before in human history. Our mission to bring freedom to the oppressed by demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ, preventing human trafficking, and restoring communities has never been more important. The global statistics might be increasing, but where Freedom's Promise has had a presence our community development model is working!
I remember the first time I traveled to Cambodia 15 years ago. So much has changed over the years, yet so much has remained the same. We continue to pray and plan for the expansion of our programs in areas where there is still desperate need. We know that we are called to build leaders and to serve the most vulnerable. Our new campus will do just that-we are positioned to bring hope and light to thousands of individuals in the years to come.
Finally, it is with great joy that I share with you our updated logo and branding! I am so proud of our team for collectively creating this updated lotus flower symbol for our ministry. Found across Southeast Asia, the lotus flower symbolizes the beauty of rising above the dark waters to bloom in all its splendor. The beautiful, thriving petals create a dramatic contrast to the muddy roots below. Designed intentionally with six petals to represent the six parts of our THRIVE model, our new lotus flower represents the future of Freedom's Promise: open to where the Lord is calling us to go, rooted in relationships, consistent in our community development model, and centered around restoration through Christ.
Thank you for joining us on the frontlines. We remain humbled and grateful to be a part of this restoration story with you.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -Romans 15:13
In Christ,
Tiffany Atkinson
