Mission

CrossBRIDGE provides effective solutions to end destructive cycles of generational poverty, addiction and incarceration. The CrossBridge mission statement is built upon its six core purposes: Building future leaders Restoring lives impacted by addiction Inviting people into healthy relationships Developing life skills Giving back through community reinvestment and service Expanding opportunities

Background

CrossBRIDGE serves a community struggling with the devastating effects of generational poverty. Drugs, prostitution, and violent crime make this South Nashville community a toxic neighborhood of single-parent households whose children encounter real dangers in and out of their homes on a continual basis. CrossBRIDGE was created to break this destructive cycle with effective, real-world solutions. Restoration House provides recovery housing, healthy boundaries, and integrated programming for adults trapped in the bondage of addiction, while the preventative programming of KidPOWER is designed to give at-risk children the tools needed to avoid that bondage altogether. Our goal is to help them remain drug-free, learn healthy conflict resolution skills, delay parenthood until marriage, graduate from high school, earn a post-secondary degree, and become servant leaders giving back to their community.

Impact

Accomplishments:1. Restoration House: Increased capacity. 2. Maintained one percent recidivism rate for residents completing six-month program and remaining connected to the Restoration House community. 3. KidPower: Expanded capacity to include 9th Graders (now serving 70 2st-9th graders from the Napier Enhanced Option Elementary School). The CrossBRIDGE ('CrossBridge') purchase of 31-39 Lindsley Avenue Has been completed! We have been in a long-term lease with a purchase option for three years prior to the closing on the property. This property, purchased from Urban Housing Solutions, presently serves as home to our Women's Recovery Program, but it also includes land space for a future Connection Center. This property lies in very close proximity to the community we serve through our youth program, KidPOWER. It took 3?-plus years to accomplish this purchase. There were days when it seemed the sale would never happen. The property was subject to a number of government grants with their accompanying restrictions. Before we could even be considered as a potential buyer of the property, we had to prove to the grant institutions that we were operating programming with the highest standards. We were approved and completed the purchase in November 2016.We now have the architectural plans to build on the Lindsley property and are seeking funding. A private donor has pledged a $1 million gift. Goals:1. Restoration House: Build/purchase a dedicated facility housing 80 residents and an administrative/training complex.2. Restoration House: Consolidate administrative and management operations into a single site. 3. Restoration House: Increase staffing to expand programming components (workforce development and life skills training).4. KidPower: Take 4th Graders on field trip to Washington, D.C.5. KidPower: Begin Summer programming.

While all KidPOWER participants receive the one-on-one tutoring so vital to academic success, KidPOWER Kids also learn the practical skills needed to help them make responsible choices throughout their lives. These distinctives, coupled with our administrative efficiency, maximize the impact of every contribution, great or small.

Board Chair Statement

What We Do BREAKING THE BONDS OF ADDICTION & INCARCERATION Since 2009, Restoration House has provided probationers, parolees, and others an opportunity to explore and address the root causes of their life-controlling addictions in a safe, supportive residential setting. Our multi-faceted, peer-led program provides motivated men and women a proven path from the hopeless bondage of addiction to produce sobriety and responsible maturity. Amid the growing crisis of opioid addiction, the TBI estimates that 80% of Tennessee's crimes are drug-related. As the daily cost of housing an inmate nears $75, the Tennessee Department of Correction's annual budget approaches one billion dollars. Although Restoration House saves Tennessee taxpayers nearly a million dollars each year, our enduring legacy is genuine transformation. Recognizing the proven link between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and addition, our program systematically addresses the impact of ACEs on adults. Discovering effective ways to handle the ACEs-related toxic stress that formerly plagued and paralyzed them, participants who fully embrace our Restoration House structure routinely experience profound inner healing. The evidence is positive, measurable, and clearly discernible in lives that are radically changed!
