Mission

Our mission is to develop and support the arts of Fairview through collaboration, education, and engagement with out community. We want to enrich Fairview with the creativity, diversity and beauty that come with the expression of local arts.

Background

The organization was originally conceived in 2015 as the Fairview Arts Guild to bring artists in the area together. As the Guild struggled, as small group discussed the idea of bringing artists together with a mission to promote art within our community. The result was the incorporation of the Fairview Arts Council in 2018.

Impact

Like a lot of organizations the Fairview Arts Council started 2020 with a bang. Unfortunately, our programs were suspended due to the covid-19 crisis. FAC changed direction and instead of gathering in person, we started to do what we could virtually. We initiated Saturday Coffee Rooms in Facebook to allow networking and discussion. We also moved our Open Art program to a virtual Facebook room. Open Art encourages artists to share their current projects and ask for opinions and assistance. FAC held a GoFundMe campaign allowed us to meet our current facility expenses and keep our space even in the midst of the crisis. We continued to expand our artistic community through social media. In November of 2020, FAC was able to facilitate and complete a community mural. This was a mural designed by 2 artists in our group. The mural was then painted by over 60 members of the community.

For 2023, our goals include completing at least one more community mural. We have begun an Artist Directory which is available to all local artists at no charge. FAC will continue with Maker Mondays virtual gatherings. We were not able to keep our location, so we meet in borrowed spaces such as local restaurants, library and churches. We have three events that we have partnered with the City of Fairview on to be able to connect with our community. These will be held at Bowie Nature Park in Fairview.

Needs

We need volunteers to assist with administration duties and volunteers for the upcoming events with the city along with artists who want to help with the mural project to beautify Fairview.
