Mission

Our mission is to Rescue and Restore women and children from the bondage of human trafficking and addiction.

Background

NAHT began as a missional community out of a local church supporting several anti-human trafficking nonprofits in our community. With a desire to make an impact, this missional community began meeting regularly and soon had an opportunity to daily serve in an area of town known to be a hub for human trafficking. As a result of NAHT's presence on the ground, relationships with victims were established and trust was built. Outreach efforts produced increasing opportunities for NAHT to help victims leave the human trafficking industry, begin detox and rehab programs, and find housing in trauma-informed and sober living communities.

NAHT quickly outgrew the missional community model and shifted its efforts. Today, NAHT's strategy is to Rescue and Restore. Rescue through survivor-informed interventions. Restore through survivor-informed and survivor-led classes and curriculum and relational wraparound support to help survivors continue in their healing and progress on their way to becoming thrivers. In 2022, NAHT implemented Educate to Recognize, a program targeting the most vulnerable among us, middle and high school students. Educate to Recognize informs, supports, and mobilizes Tennessee communities at large to be aware of traffickers' grooming and predatorial tactics so that those targeted are informed and protected. In the fall of 2023, NAHT launched Sweet Daisy, a social enterprise, that will Resource survivors with jobs; train them to bake, decorate, ship and deliver delicious little cakes called petit fours for any of Nashville's celebrations.

CEO Statement

Human Trafficking is closer to each of us than we realize. Due in large part to the availability of the internet and mobile phones, human trafficking is flourishing in every zip code throughout Middle Tennessee.

It became evident to me that it would take an army of committed volunteers and professionals willing to take a stand and fight this battle to make a lasting impact on this rapidly growing and robust industry, one that is fueled by the enslavement of people for personal gain. Convinced that all people are made in the image of God and therefore have inherent value, worth, and dignity, we believe that the buying and selling and the sexual exploitation of people made in God's image is an abomination to the God who created them. That is why NAHT is committed to bringing the redemptive story of Jesus to victims and survivors of human trafficking. Through our survivor-led Rescue and Restore ministries, survivors are able to find lasting freedom and hope.
