Mission

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for overlooked dogs within shelters across Middle Tennessee.

Background

Strangers up until the beginning of 2019, Co-Founders, Kylie Hadden & Kelsey Holzer both had the same vision for a dog rescue that would help rehabilitate dogs struggling in the shelter system and then place them with foster families, and eventually in their forever homes. Individually they had dreams of what their rescues would look like- both excited but burdened by the thought of "where do I even begin?"

It wasn't until the beginning of 2019 that they met and quickly realized their mission, values, and goals were completely aligned, down to the very last details of what their future building would look like. In 2021 after leaving another local rescue in hopes of starting her own, Ellen Ness began looking to Kelsey & Kylie for guidance and instead found her home at Rebellion as well. The three-person team is a small, but passionate group hoping to bridge the gap between the current shelter and animal welfare systems in middle TN to break shelter dog stereotypes and save dogs that may otherwise be euthanized.

Impact

Since our founding, we have taken in 14 dogs. Thirteen have been placed happily in the their forever homes, with number 14 currently available for adoption. Many of these dogs were pulled mere hours before they were scheduled to be put down. Instead, they are thriving with their families.

Over the next couple of years our largest goals relate to building a modest facility to safely house dogs in our care. Though foster homes are wonderful, they are not always available when needed. We would also like to develop a community education program with presentations that can be brought into schools, community centers, and other public venues to educate the public on things like the importance of spay/neuter, how rescues work with local shelters, public pet etiquette , etc.

Needs

Our biggest need is always financial. We never know how long a dog will be in our care and, as any pet owner knows, they don't come cheap. We need food, preventatives, vet fees, etc. Additionally, we are currently trying to raise $65,000 to build our facility. One of the best ways to support us is to become a monthly donor. We have options ranging from $5/month to $500/month. Every little bit helps, and knowing we have a consistent amount coming in each month is very helpful in our day-to-day planning.
